Overview

Nestled on Lime Quarry Road in Madison, Alabama, Little Libby's Catfish stands as a humble beacon of Southern diner tradition. This unassuming spot delivers hearty, authentic comfort food in a setting that feels like a warm embrace from home. The focus here is clear: catfish, prepared with care and served generously, alongside a range of classic sides and specials that echo the soul of Southern cuisine.

The catfish offerings are the heart and soul of Little Libby’s kitchen. Whether you opt for the Medium Catfish Filet Plate with Fries and Slaw, the more substantial Whole Catfish Dinner, or the robust Catfish Filet Dinner, each dish arrives perfectly fried to a golden crisp, full of flavor yet never overbearing. Complementing the fish are classic sides like hushpuppies, crisp cole slaw, tangy cucumber salad, and more. Their attention to traditional pairings such as grits, okra, and homemade hot sauce rounds out a genuinely Southern palate.

Breakfast here echoes the diner’s all-day comfort ethos. From the special two eggs with sausage or bacon, grits or gravy, and biscuit, to indulgent touches like biscuits smothered in chocolate gravy, the morning fare is straightforward yet satisfying. Reviewers frequently highlight the quality of the bacon and the richness of the sausage—spiced just right to balance the milder eggs and hash browns.

The atmosphere channels the charm of a classic diner, with friendly service that welcomes you like family. Visitors consistently report a homey, no-frills experience where hospitality shines just as brightly as the food. The dining room isn’t flashy or modern; it’s authentic and unpretentious, fostering a sense of community that resonates with locals and visitors alike. This creates an inviting space especially suited for those seeking genuine Southern flavors and a relaxed meal away from bustling chains or trendy eateries.

Little Libby's caters to a diverse audience—from early risers craving a solid breakfast to lunch and dinner patrons in pursuit of expertly fried catfish and Southern staples like country fried steak or chicken stew. The place accommodates families, couples, and even travelers who stumble upon this culinary gem off the beaten path. I knew that it was a good place. Off the beaten path. I was the only Non-Alabama person there. This place is busy. The catfish is very good. I was happy with the serving. I left here very satisfied.

Always a delight to eat at Libby's! Country fried steak, chicken stew and blackened salmon are my favorites. Atmosphere is always homey and welcoming, like "an old diner" should feel, and the waitresses are always pleasant and attentive. There are many restaurants to choose from in Priceville and along Hwy 67, but there's only one Libby's! From a real estate standpoint, I LOVE the hospitality in Morgan County's businesses, restaurants and people. The scenery is on my favorites list, too!

Nice little restaurant without any pretense. The food is really good (lunch and dinner is better than breakfast), and the price is great. Recommend trying it; even if the appearance is old, it's worth the meal to try.

Clean, friendly people and atmosphere, lots of food, had side order of hash browns and between the two of us we still took some home. Bacon was really good. Sausage was nice n spicy. Went great with the over easy eggs. Coffee was 3 cups worthy. Just right. He had biscuit n gravy and I had grits. We have dogs with us and they are getting nothing. Bringing the left over bacon n potatoes home for his breakfast tomorrow morn as I add eggs n toast to it. Was a very enjoyable morning eating here. Great way to start the day. Will be coming back a lot when I madison.

I got here around 6:38 PM on December 21, 2024. We were seated by Kim and she had everything covered swiftly. They have a AMAZING country fried steak. Got the gravy on top and it was soft and creamy. 9/10 rating and number 4 out of 5 on my country fried steak list. Would highly recommend.

I stopped by Little Libby’s Catfish for breakfast and was pleasantly surprised! The food was delicious, fresh, and cooked just right. The portions were generous, and the service was friendly and welcoming—just the kind of Southern hospitality you hope for. The atmosphere was cozy and relaxed, making it a great spot to start the day. I’ll definitely be back to try their lunch and, of course, the catfish they’re known for!
